Explanation / Answer

Sigmund Freud was the first in psychology to propound an analysis of mind and behavior through his psychoanalysis perspective. He compared the human mind to an ice berg and explained that the manner in which a small part is visible on surface of water and the rest is submerged under,so is our mind. The unconscious of our mind ,the state of which are not aware is similar to the major part submerged under the water ,this unconscious plays an important role in in influencing our daily behaviors and activities. He named this unconscious as id ,the unaware state of mind that has innate desire and drives, and always demand an instant gratification of it's demand. The conscious he named was ego,the gatekeeper,it manages the conflict and finds ways to meet id's demand in a logical and rational manner. Then comes the moral side of conscious, superego, that forces ego to conform to the ideals of morality. There is a constant conflict between these three components of mind.Freud analysed the anxiety and disorders based on these conflicts. He also proposed defense mechanism ,the techniques which ego applies when a demand of id is not satisfied due to regulatory superego. He explained the influences of these three in shaping and developing the personality of an individual along with the influence of experiences of childhood at it's various stages.

An early supporter of Sigmund Freud ,Jung also proposed a similar theory to psychodynamic perspective. He also included the components of mind, but with a major difference of collective unconscious. A level of unconscious that is shared with the ancestors of human species,a virtual image of world that a person is born with is collective unconscious. It has images and thoughts that have meanings and similarities across the cultures, that was archetypes by Jung.
