1. The macula lutea is present at the posterior pole of the eye, as a yellowish area. This contains mostly cones and very few rod cells. So a patient suffering from macular degeneration will suffer from defects in acuity of vision, light vision and color vision. The person’s field of vision may show a central blind spot.

2. The rods are responsible for dark vision and mostly located in the peripheral retina. Any person suffering from rod cell degeneration will suffer fron defective dark vision.

3. Otitis interna refers to the infection/inflammation of internal ear.

The patient suffering from otitis interna will show symptoms of hearing loss, nystagmus, postural imbalance.

Most of the symptoms occur due to involvement of internal ear contents that is the hearing end organ and the vestibular apparatus.
