from conservation of momentum

m1u1+m2u2 = (m1+m2)v

(0.006*711) +0 = (53)*v

(b) m1 = 5*10^-4 kg

(5*10^-4*711) +0 = (53 -0.006 +0.0005)*v

v = 0.00671 m/s
