Explanation / Answer

I experienced many culture shocks during my visit to India, but the contrast between the rich and poor was perhaps what impacted me the most. I was picked up from the airport in a BMW, driving through broken roads and a slum with children banging on the windows to get me to buy some pens and then I pulled up to a lavish hotel. There is massive poverty and massive opulence.

Among the three videos, the one describing the Standing Baba was the most fascinating. These men take a vow of penance to stand for 9-12 years, while never sitting or lying down. To us outsiders, this custom may seem weird, but when one is born in this culture I can imagine how spiritually significant and satisfying it must be for these men to undertake this penance.
