I agree with the the author’s stance pertaining to gender roles and identity being a social construct. Indeed, stereotypes form a part of our everyday lives and shape the way in which we perceive ourselves and judge other individuals. From childhood itself, we are implicitly taught what behaviours are considered acceptable and therefore what maybe typically expected from memebers of a certain group. However, the media is not the sole source of encouraging and enforcing stereotypes. I believe that the popular culture influences what the media projects and therefore shape its contents.
