There is no doubt that the social media like facebook, twitter and Instagram have become part of peoples everyday lives. The people around me are constantly checking their status on these sites while going about doing their routine activities. They are sitting midst of people simultaneously talking to them and striking likes on the social media sites. They are commenting on the sites in the office time while doing their official work.These social media sites are a definite distraction and lowering the productivity of the people. But at the same time, these sites have helped older people like parents to keep in touch with their children and friends. They are able to have a social circle even when they are homebound due to their poor health. There are both positive and negative consequences of these social media sites what is required is the self-discipline in an individual. People can engage with the social media for a limited time and that too in their free time.
