1.
A project is a set of multiple activities planned and executed by a group of people to achieve a single goal. In a project there are several attributes that define the type and future course of action in the project. The core attributes are
When a project is taken up the part of the project are generally broken down into better executionable modules and the above attributes for each is module is defined and then the progress is measured as per each of the factor.
For example a project for building a bridge can be broken down into
For each of the module or phase in this project a defined budget is allocated, specified time line is given and so the scope is provided as per the resources available and the quality and risk for each is defined. Then the progress in each of the above factor is measured at each phase and the cost, scope and time are modified as the project progresses.
Similarly few other projects can be, Launch of a new product in the market or A software development.
A project is different from daily jobs as in the daily jobs the work they do are same and we call them operations, as they execute what has been being followed regularly. Where as in a project every body works towards a goal, and generally they do it for the first time for that specific work and the work is unique in that context. The daily jobs are after the project is launched and regular operations resume.
Triple constraint is a combination of the main factors that define the quality of the project, which are
So, these constraints determine the outcome of a project and hence are key to success of any project. And in general each one is related to the other either directly or inversely, hence a combination of each is essential.
