Question
Use the dataset (above) to test whether men and women differ in their level of performance.
i. Is there a statistically significant difference between genders? [report the t-value and p-value at the end of the sentence stating whether there is a difference: “…end of sentence (t = x.xx, p < 0.xx).”]
ii. How much error is there in your conclusions?[Be sure to write a complete statement using the variable names]
T-Test Group Statistics Std. Error Mean GENDER Mean Std. Deviation 1.247 1.169 PERFORMANCE 1 45 3.11 186 39 3.05 187Explanation / Answer
(i)
The p-value of F test is 0.936 so we can assume that population variances are equal.
The p-value of t test is: 0.822
Since p-value is greater than 0.05 so we fail to reject the null hypothesis.
That is we cannot conclude that there is statistically significant difference between genders.
(ii)
Since we accept the null hypothesis so type II error is possible. That is we incorrectly concldue that there is no statistically significant difference between genders.
