The case presented here is about the sensitivity of doctors towards patients they treat and the privacy rights of the patients. This case also presents the fact that witch such behaviours of posting information online in the uniform may damage the reputation of hospital. The case discusses the issue of privacy, sensitivity towards patients and discipline of the employees working for the hospital should have. The employees are representing the hospital on social media and open discussion about patients and mocking them on their economic situation can create problems for the hospital. The employees should be sensitized on the use of social media and they should be told about what should be posted and what should not be posted online.

In my view it was appropriate for the hospital administration to discipline the employees of the hospital. Yes, the employees have the right to live their personal life and they can post their personal pictures or thoughts but when it comes to discussing their work on social media and posting pictures in uniform it becomes an issue for the employer. They are representing their organization on social media when they are discussing their work and mocking people and this can't be allowed because the reputation of the hospital will be in danger.
Also the employees should show sensitivity towards the society and a patient tell her problem to doctors because she believes that this will only remain with the people treating her, open discussion about her problems will break her trust and her privacy rights are also in jeopardy.
Posting case information’s, derogatory comments and mocking economic conditions of the patients shows a very negative and careless attitude of the employees and the hospital administration took right decision to bring discipline into the employees.

If I was the supervisor who got this complaint I would have become angry at first because as a manager to a hospital I would have never expected my staff to indulge in such behaviour.
I would have then called a meeting to understand the entire situation like how it was done? Who all were doing it and why they were doing it? After understanding the overall situation I would have informed the administration about this incident and would have also asked the employees involved in this incident to stop doing it and deleting all the information and posts on social media.
Also from my end I would have sensitized the employees that we are not expected to post and discuss such information online as healthcare professionals.
3.
Yes, this case can be presented as an example of effective discipline because just after knowing about this incident the hospital administration has taken the necessary and required action to correct whatever has happened and was happening from the side of some of the hospital employees. The case shows weak control system over staff but later the required action was initiated.
The case is also an example of lack of sensitivity from the side of employees which shows probably they were not sensitized first hand when they joined the organization and neither such programme existed at the organization.
Taking away the rights from the employees involved in such incident and sending them for sensitive training will also set an example for other employees which will motivate them to refrain from such behaviour.
