Name SECTION Answer all parts of each question carefully and completely. Show work for any calculated answer. Round answers to 4 decimal places where appropriate. Show Graphs where requested The distribution of the number of barrels of oil produced by a particular oil well each day for the past three years has a mean of 400 and a standard deviation of 75 1. Describe the sampling distribution of the mean number of barrels produced per day for random amples of 50 production days drawn from the last 3 years. What is the mean and standard error of the samples? (4) a) b) What is the probability that the sample mean for 50 days will be between 375 and 425 barrels? Show a graph of your analysis.(6 Scanned by CamScanner

Explanation / Answer

mean is 400 and s is 75

a) sample size is 50 , thus mean is same as 400 and standard deviation is s/sqrt(N)=SE=75/sqrt(50)=10.61

z is given as (x-mean)/SE)

b) thus P(375<x<425)=P((375-400)/10.61<z<(425-400)/10.61)=P(-2.36<z<2.36) or 2*P(z<2.36)-1

from normal distribution table we get 2*0.9909-1=0.9818
