Question

A paired difference test, based on time of day and day of the week, was conducted to compare the difference, between the Ambassador Bridge and the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, in their average times for drivers to cross the border. A random sample of 10 times were randomly selected. One car from each selected time was observed crossing the border at each location and their times (in minutes) were recorded as shown on the Excel file. At the .025 level of significance, is there sufficient evidence that the true average time to cross at the Tunnel is greater than the true average time to cross at the Bridge? question asks you to test the difference in two population means using matched or paired samples. Use Excel to show your work.

Pair tunnel bridge
1 15.7 11.1
2 22.5 17.8
3 38.6 37.2
4 5.4 3.2
5 18.5 14.1
6 12.9 9.1
7 45.1 41.8
8 26.3 27.3
9 32.6 29.4
10 3.8 4.2

Explanation / Answer

from above as p value is less then 0.05 level of signfiicance we can reject null hypothesis,

we have sufficient evidecne to conclude that  the true average time to cross at the Tunnel is greater than the true average time to cross at the Bridge.
