Question
create a 12- to 15-slide presentation using the information you gathered and submitted in Weeks 3 & 4. Include the following: • Describe the problem, and provide some brief background about the situation. • Explain the research hypothesis. • Describe your sample and your sampling method. • Explain the four steps of the research process you followed, and define the critical value and the test statistic your analysis provided. • Provide the main finding of the study. What did you prove or fail to prove? • Provide recommendations based on your findings.

· Describe the problem, and provide some brief background about the situation.
We are experiencing too many missed appointments in our primary and special care units. We will examine whether the remainder calls or text message follow up provides the least amount of missed appointments. Missed appoints are tracked in a facility database on a monthly basis. For this study we will see the number of appoints for a particular month and note the number of missed appointments. We will use both the remainder calls method of follow up appointment and text message method of follow up appointments and divide into two groups.
Explain the research hypothesis.
The research hypothesis can be divided into two parts the null and alternative hypothesis which in this case is written as follows:
Word form:
Null Hypothesis:
The mean number of follow up appointments in case of text message is equal to the mean number of missed appointments when remainder calls are used.
Alternative Hypothesis: The mean number of follow up appointments in case of text message is greater than the mean number of missed appointments when remainder calls are used.
Symbolic form:
Ho:µ(text messages)µ(remainder calls).
Ha :µ( text messages)>µ(remainder calls)
where µ is the average of the responses taken from the digital facility database for a particular month.
· Describe your sample and your sampling method.
Here we have considered two groups, one has been called for follow-up through text messages and another group has been called for follow up with the help of remainder calls. These two group are independent groups taking randomly(random sampling) from patients who visited clinic for a particular month.
Explain the four steps of the research process you followed, and define the critical value and the test statistic your analysis provided.
Ho:µ(text messages)µ(remainder calls).
Ha :µ( text messages)>µ(remainder calls)
where µ is the average of the responses taken from the digital facility database for a particular month.
Decision:Reject Ho,if t(58)>1.6716
Test statistic,t=1.8285
Decision: Reject Ho,t-value>t-critical.
Conclusion:The follow-up appointments in case of text messages is greater than the follow up appointment for remainder calls.
· Provide the main finding of the study. What did you prove or fail to prove?
From the statistical test at the 0.05 level of significance we have been able to prove that the mean number of follow-up through text messages is greater than the mean number of follow up through remainder calls.
· Provide recommendations based on your findings.
As a manager of clinic, I came to the statistical conclusion that the text message follow up is more as compared to remainder calls follow up. It is in fact true as people at the time of call may be busy in some productive work which they do not think is necessary to pick the call at that moment. Following up with the text message is more suited in this busy world where the person can see the message at some later time and may act accordingly. Thus,I would recommend text message as a more efficient means to reduce missed appointments.
