Question
4. A researcher is trying to figure out if there is an association between drinking soda pop and obesity in children. She evaluated young people in different cities if they drank soda pop and those that said yes she categorized them into three groups based on their weight: non-obese, obese, and intermediate. Analyze her data. (10 pts) Cincinnati Miami Chicago Count Count Class Count 19 non-obese 23 10 50 43 obese 67 25 intermediate 33 37 5. A farmer mass (in metric tons) produced by two crop species and b) has monitored of grain average rainfall, and drought years. Analyze across above average rainfall (wet), to rainfall. the farmer's data and what they tell him about seed production in response 10 pts Seed Production Rainfall year species Wet 1098 wet 299 wet 387 Wet 755 wet 288 wet 199 drought 413 drought 389 drought 387 droughtExplanation / Answer
Question-4
We have to test the null hypothesis
H0: There is no association between drinking soda population and obesity in children
…versus the alternative hypothesis
H1: There is association between drinking soda population and obesity in children
As class and pop are nominal variable with 3 categories each given in cross tabulation we will apply chi-square test of independent with alpha=0.05.
The results are as follows from where we have not enough evidence to reject the null hypothesis as 2(4)= 6.668, p=0.154>0.04. Hence there is no association between drinking soda population and obesity in children
