Question

Public Health and Nutrition A study was conducted to compare the amount of salt in potato chips. Random samples of four varieties were obtained and the amount of salt in each 1- alpha portion of potato chips was recorded (in mg of sodium). The data are given in the following table. Conduct an analysis of variance test to determine whether there is any evidence that the population mean amount of salt per serving is different for at least two varieties. Use alpha = 0.05. a. State the four parts of the hypothesis test. b. Complete an ANOVA table. c. Draw the appropriate conclusion.

Explanation / Answer

here null hypothesis: mean amount of salt per serving is same for all varieties.

alternate hypothesis:mean amount of salt per serving is diffierent for at least 2 varieties

significance level =0.05

critical value F =3.0984

running one way ANOVA on above:

c) as P value is less then 0.05 level we reject null hypothesis and conclude that  mean amount of salt per serving is diffierent for at least 2 varieties
