BIOSTATS Question PLEASE HELP!

An experiment was performed to investigate the effect of a small lesion introduced into a particular structure of the rat's brain on his ability to perform in a discrimination problem. The lesions were introduced into structures on the right side of the brain. left side of brain, both sides of brain and neither side (control). (a) Give the null and alternative hypotheses. (b) Test the hypothesis that the location of the lesions had no effect on he rat's ability to discriminate. (c) Draw valid conclusions. The score is the average number of trails that it took the rat to learn the task CON Left Right Both 10 24 20 37 18 22 22 35 16 25 30 38 19 25 27 34 16 20 22 38 14 21 24 32 16 34 28 36

Explanation / Answer

(a) Null Hypothesis H0 :  con = left = right  = both

Alternative Hypothesis H1 : all means are not same

so we willl do ANOVA one way teest on all 4 variables

Here is the summary

By seeing that we see p- value in range of -9 order of 10 so it is under significant level 0.05 , Here Ftest > Fcritical also so we can reject the null hypothesis and can say location of laison had sufficient impact on the rat's ability to discriminate.
