Question
Hi,
Can you please solve and explain the question below, thank you so much.
Home Business Statistics: Introducing the Analytical Use of Spreadsheets Probability Evaluation Tools Evaluation: Basic Models Discrete Random Variables When entering numerical inputs throughout this evaluation, use decimal approximations accurate to nearest 0.001 Binomial Random Variables Part 1 Draw a card 8 times from a shuffled deck, with replacement. What is the probability that at least 6 of the draws will be face cards? Part 2 Roll a six-sided die 7 times. What is the probability that 6 will appear at least 2 times? Part 3 The probability that a random newborn is male is roughly 0.51 What is the probability that at least 2 of 5 newborns will be male?Explanation / Answer
Please 1 question at a time.
Binomial Random Variables:
Part1)
p of face card = no. of face card in deck/total in deck = 12/52 = 3/13=
P( alteast 6 are face out of 8 draws) = 8C6( .231^6)(.769^2) = .002516
Part2)
P( 6 appers atleast 2 times when die rolled 7times) = 1-p( got 6 atmost 1 times)
=1- ( 7C0*(.167^0)(.83^7) + 7C1((.167^1)(.83^6))
= .347
Part3)
P(male) = .51
P( atleast 2 out of 5 arae male) = 1-P( 1 or 0 males)
=1- ( 5C0*.51^0*.49^5 +5C1*.51^1 *.49^4)
=.825
