Question
You want to know if people are more likely to make a behavioral change (like sticking to an exercise regime), if they announce it publicly. Design an independent groups (between subjects) experiment to test this. You may choose the behavior to change (exercise, too much Facebook, smoking, procrastinating your weekly module assignments, etc.). Include the following: How you assigned participants to groups. The levels of the independent variable and how you manipulated them. The dependent variable and how you measured it.
Explanation / Answer
We have a indepdent group design consisting of 50 each , in 2 groups.
One which doesn't facebook and other does too much facebook.
The thing we are measuring ( independent variable is hours of facebook watched). There is no manipulated.
Then we ask both the groups to exercise( to precise to job for 2 miles).
We see that participants in 1st group ( nonFB users) are usually jog the 2miles in half the time the FB users do). The depdentent variable is hours to taken to job the 2 miles.
