esson 14.C Worksheet MAT 0445 to accompany MAT 1445 Lesson 14 It's important to identify potential sources of bias when planning a sample survey. When we say there's potential bias, we should also be able to argue if the results will probably be an overestimate or an underestimate. Try to identify the source of bias in each scenario, and speculate on the direction of the bias. David hosts a podcast and he is curious how much his listeners like his show. He decides to start with an online poll. He asks his listeners to visit his website and participate in the poll. The poll shows that 89% of about 200 respondents "love" his show. 1) a) What is the most concerning source of bias in this scenario? Why? Which direction of bias (underestimate, overestimate) is more likely in this scenario? Give a detailed explanation for your answer. b) View as Text 4Explanation / Answer
1)a) bias signifies that the occurance of and event A is same as the non occurance occurance that event. Here we can see that the probability of viewing the show is 0.89
Hence it is no longer unbunbias(if unbiased then the probability will be 0.50) here it is over estimated.
B) it is over estimated as the occurance of the event is more than half.
