An article in a 2006 issue of the Journal of Behavioral Decision Making reports on a study involving 47 undergradute students at Harvard . All of the particiants were given $50 , but some (choosen at random) were told that this was a "tuition rebate," while the others were told that this was "bonus income". After one week , the students were contacted again and asked how much of the $50 they had spent and how much they had saved. Researchers wantedto know wether those reciving the "rebate" would tend to save more money than those receiving the "bonus."

Explanation / Answer

Here observational units are the two groups of students

First group is of students who were told that 50 dollars was a tuition rebate.

Second group were told that this amount was bonus income.

Variables are the amount they spent from 50 dollars.
