PARTII 1. If a rectangular fence has its lengh twice as much sq,ft, the total amount of fence neoded is equal to its ) 200 ft 120) 400 The f asev 2. graph of the equation is symmetric about -)both the x & y sxis d) the line y-1 ) mone of te sbove 3. Find the equation of the line going tdrough (1, 1) and perpendioui 4. Te supply and demand equations for . product sre respectively-0.1 q·20 and p -200-0.5q respectively where q represenis the number of units and p represents the price per unit in dellars. The equilibrium price is e) S1O b) s20 e) 30 ) 540 so fixed cost is $20,000 per year. Next year the company wants the total cost to be $48,000. How many units of the product must be made next year? a) 8,000 5. A company produces a product for which the variable cost per unit is $2.50 and b) 11,200 c) 19,200 )27,200 )none of the aboveExplanation / Answer
Ans : 1) Let the width be w and length is 2w. Area = (w)*(2w) = 800 width w = 20 & length 2w = 40.
Perimeter = 2*(w+2w) = 2*(20+40) = 120.
2) Both x^4 & x^2 are symmetric about y axis. Hence the function is symmetric about y axis.
3) Slope of y = -4x + 3 is -4. So slope of line perpendicular to it would be -1/4.
So equation of line will be y = (-1/4) x + b. Put (-1, 1) in this equation gives us
1 = (-1/4)*1 + b b = 5/4. Hence equation of line will be
y = (-1/4)*x + (5/4)
4) At equilibrium 0.1q + 20 = 200 - 0.5q 0.6q = 180
q = 300 is the equilibrium quantity.
5) Total cost = Fixed Cost + Variable cost; Let the quantity be x.
48,000 = 20,000 + (2.5)*x 28,000 = 2.5x x = 28,000/2.5 = 11,200 option (b).
