Score: 0 of 1 pt 10 of 11 (9 complete) HW Score: 81.82%, 9 of 11 pts 12.1.61 Question Help * A store sells cashews for $6.00 per pound and peanuts for $3 00 per pound. The manager decides to mix 10 pounds of peanuts with some cashews and sell mixture for $4.00 per pound. How many pounds of cashews should be mixed with the peanuts so that the mixture will produce the same revenue as would selling the nuts separately? There should be pounds of cashews in the mixture. (Type an integer or a decimal.)Explanation / Answer
(pounds of peanuts)(price per pound of peanuts) + (pounds of cashews)(price per pound of cashews) = (total pounds)(price per pound)
let the pounds of cashews be x, then the total pounds will be x + 10.
10(3) + x(6) = (10 + x)(4)
30 + 6x = 4x + 40
2x = 10
x = 5
There must be 5 pounds of cashews mixed with the 10 pounds of peanuts.
