Find the change in the number of gallons in the tub when the number of minutes the tub has been draining changes from 0 minutes to 7 minutes. b. How many gallons of water in the tub before the tub began to drain? c. what a formula that determines the number of gallons in the tub, y, in terms of the number of minutes elapsed since the plug was pulled, x.Explanation / Answer
a) it is draining at rate of -1.6 gallons per minute and after 4 minutes there is 40 gallons left
So , initial gallons before draining = 40+(4*1.6) = 46.4 gallons
( 46.4-7*1.6-46) = -1.6*7 = -11.2 gallons
b) 46.4 gallons (already calculated)
c) y = 46.4-1.6x
