Question

I basically said it all in the title but I will provide an example here. I would love to know why this happens.

487/23 = 21.1739       2+1+1+7+3+9 = 23

ha! Well after doing that on the spot I suppose its a bad example because it happens almost immediately.

Here is another:

423564/23 = 18415.8     1+8+4+1+5+8 = 27    27/23 = 1.17391   1+1+7+3+9+1 = 22
22/23 = .956522  9+5+6+5+2+2 = 29    29/23 = 1.26087   1+2+6+0+8+7 = 24   24/23 = 1.04348  1+4+3+4+8 = 20

20/23 = .869565   8+6+9+5+6+5 = 39   39/23 = 1.69565   1+6+9+5+6+5 = 32  32/23 = 1.3913  1+3+9+1+3 = 17

17/23 = .73913  7+3+9+1+3 = 23

I figured this out about 7-8 years ago messing around in math class in high school and just remembered about it today.

Didn't want to have to choose a course to ask this in but since I did have to I put  math5170.

Thanks in advance.
