Cordilleran Orogeny is an event began at the time of Jurassic and continued till Cenozoic.

There are three phases of the Cordilleran orogeny-

•Nevadan orogeny-It was the oldest orogeny which started in Late Jurassic and ended in Cretaceous period. Nevadan orogeny was strongly affected as large volume of granite magma was generated at depth beneath the western edge of North America. Sierra Navada and Southern California are examples of it

•Sevier orogeny-After Nevadan Orogeny,Sevier orogeny came. Northern American plate continued during this time which resulted into large number of overlapping.

•Laramife Orogeny is the last of the 3phases which started in Late Cretaceous to Early Cenozoic phase of the Cordilleran orogeny. In this orogeny many strctural features of the present-day famous mountains were formed for eg Rocky Mountain.
