DNAPL stands for dense non-aqueous phase liquid. It is used in monitor well screening. Being denser it settles down to the bottom of the aquifer. Here, DANPL is concentrated in 50% thickness of the aquifer, which is obviously the lower half of the aquifer thickness. So, well screen should be limited in this part, i.e; the lower 10 m of the aquifer with bottom screen at the lower confining layer and top boundary of the well screen above 10m of this layer.
20 years is a long time for this to dissolve and redistributed throughout the aquifer but ideally a DNAPL should not dissolve.
