Assume the lifeguard always moves a ta constant velocity on land (4 m/s), and a different cosntant velocity in the pool (2 m/s) (that is, neglect changes in velocity when he starts to run or swim, or when he drives into the pool) If he wants to reach the child in the shortest time, how far along which edge of the pool should he run before he enters the pool and begins to swim directly toward the child?
