Explanation / Answer

Biological control: The biological control of pests uses biological processes such as sterile male technique and reproductive incompatibility. Pests like mosquitoes can also controlled by fishes like gambusia which feed on mosquito larvae. All these biological process of pest control are advantageous than chemical control because there is no damage to the environment and there will be no development of tolerance among the pests. The main disadvantage is the cost involved and complexity of the implementation.

Chemical control: The chemical control of pests involves the use of chemicals like Malathion, pyrethrum, mention, benzene hexafluoride etc. The main advantage is the ease of application of these pesticides. They are also cheaper when compared to biological control. The main drawback is the development of tolerance among the pests when these pesticides are used over a long duration of time.

Considering both, biological control of pests are preferred over chemical control albeit their drawbacks.
