Many project managers get confused between work breakdown structure and project network.so,often they schedule and breakdown the project in one step.But these two things are different from each other.The main difference between WBS and project network are:

Though the project network and WBS are different from each other ,still they are closely linked with one another.Projects network and WBS both are the parts of a project plan.WBS refers to a managable division of work to accomplish the project objectives and creat the required deliverables.A project network is a graphic flowchart of a project plan that is developed from the Work Breakdown Structure(WBS).A project network is developed to identify and document dependencies among scheduled activities that have been identified in the WBS.It is mainly useful to identify the critical path and understand how best to sequence the activities of the project.Once the work breakdown is done one can estimate the time for completion of the activities and make project schedule applicable.

For example, if a building is constructed foundation and roofing can be WBS.but the plastering and brickworks put together called project network.
