Explanation / Answer

Ans 1: As per the Canada Food guide there are four food groups - vegetables and fruit. grain products. milk and alternatives. Food groups are collection of foods that are classified or categorized into groups based on similar nutritional or biological parameters.

Ans 2: The human body requires a variety of nutrients in different proportions. If these are not met or if these are met in proportions that are not suited for the human body, overtime there can be changes in gross weight, metabolisms and predisposition to chronic and severe diseases. A balanced diet ensures that we intake all the required nutrients in specified proportion and thus keeps us healthy and disease-free.

Ans 3: There exists several other food guides. Most countries have their own food gudies, like US has USFDA food guide; then there is the Mongolian food guide, the China food guide which uses the pagoda as a symbol to indicate a portion of serving, the Fiji food guide that has a pineapple that indicates its servings. Likewise several food guides exist.

As far as selection goes, one should go as per the food of ones region as it would be the closest in terms of ingredient availability, nutrient assessment and body requirement as per the geographic region. So, as in America one would prefer to go by the USFDA food guide.

Ans 4: The appendix is a part of the digestive system which if removed might not cause much problem in the digestive system.
