- rehabilitation of criminal offenders,
- assess the well-being of crime victims
- as expert consultants for criminal proceedings.
- legal adviser in law enforcement agency.
(b)FEARS OF FORENSIC PSYCHIATRY NURSE IN DEALING WITH PEOPLE IN CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES:-
(i)Every day is different for a correctional nurse, nurse’s duties are at different jails and prisons throughout the country.
(ii) with respect to health care nurse, correctional nurse have to some acclimation-
-nurses are prohibited from bringing a cell phone into the prison clinic.
-Equipment available are different than in a hospital.
-Need to maintain boundaries because of the potential for an inmate to take advantage of a health care provider.
- Nurses can’t hug or touch patients, it might be difficult to show empathy.
(c)most difficulty for a psychiatry nurse is dealing with a psychic patient.
(d) Dealing with acting out behaviour:-
- Don't take personally.
- Focus on point of medical interest.
- focus on perception and listening.
