Steve started working for this organization as a part-time, non-benefited administrative assistant. Over the years, he became a full-time employee, returned to school for his registered nursing degree. Most recently, he has been employed as a shift supervisor in the hospital. In this role, Steven has taken the opportunity to participate on committees, projects, and regulatory activities.

His current boss, Kelley Anderson, has noticed his good work ethic, competence, and motivation to be effective in everything that he does. She has encouraged him to return to school for graduate studies as she believes he will be an excellent leader.

Kelley is the leader of many committees, and most recently, she has created a new committee, survey readiness, which includes all levels of staff, managers, and providers in the hospital. The purpose of this committee is to oversee all activities that might be surveyed by any regulatory or accreditation group, at any time. Steven has excelled on this committee, in part due to Kelley’s style of having effective interactions with followers.

Discuss how Kelley’s leadership style demonstrates aspects of the leader-member exchange theory and what transformational leadership behaviors Steven can demonstrate with continued experience and education.

Leadership has many definitions..But Northouse defined leadership as 'democracy,love and peace'..There are two powers behind for this leadership style and leader-member exchange theory..That is position power and personal power..
?    Position power comes from a particular office or rank..As a leaders they have more power than other stafs its include legitimate(conforming to the law),reward, and coercive(using force)power..
?    Personal power comes from a personal capacity,likable and knowledge..Keley's as a manager level she has power and infront of others her subordinates consider her as a good role model..Because of her subordinates level she had a well relationship with other staffs..She didn't used her power for ending her acheivement with others..The power what she used is made the leader and followers to acheive their collective goals..This is the way leader and followers must acheive their common goals..Kelley's followed the same..
