Question

Suppose the currents in the figure below are in opposite directions: the current in the top wire is from left to right and the current in the bottom wire is from right to left. Find the direction of the magnetic field at points A, B, C, and D.

point A:

[2.5 points] 0 attempt(s) made (maximum allowed for credit = 1)

point B:

[2.5 points] 0 attempt(s) made (maximum allowed for credit = 1)

point C:

[2.5 points] 0 attempt(s) made (maximum allowed for credit = 1)

point D:

Suppose the currents in the figure below are in opposite directions: the current in the top wire is from left to right and the current in the bottom wire is from right to left. Find the direction of the magnetic field at points A, B, C, and D.

Explanation / Answer

Well magnetic field due to upper wire will be out of the plane in A side and due to bottom wire into the plane in A side but reverse for B and C side.

Now net field depens on Distance from wire

A) At A net field will be out of the plane

B) At B inside the plane (upper wire field will be domonant due to small distance)

c)Out of plane due to bottom wire

d) inside the plane
