Question

1. draw an ammeter at point A and a voltmeter connected across the topmost resistor.

2. calculate true resistance of top lightbulb with the following measurements

- current through point A is 0.332A

- voltage through top resistor is 0.932V

- current through top resistor is 0.0978A

please explain how to do #2

draw an ammeter at point A and a voltmeter connected across the topmost resistor. calculate true resistance of top lightbulb with the following measurements - current through point A is 0.332A - voltage through top resistor is 0.932V - current through top resistor is 0.0978A

Explanation / Answer

current at A will distribute in bulb line and top resister line

So Applying Kirchoff's current law=> current in bulb=0.332-0.0978= 0.2342A

Since top resister and top bulb are in parallel => Voltage across bulb= Voltage across top resistor=0.932V

By ohm's law

R of bulb= 0.932/0.2342=3.97 ohms
