Question
A 152 gram baseball is hit toward the left by a bat. The magnitude of the force the bat exerts on the ball as a function of time is shown in the figure below:
A) Please find the magnitude of the impulse that the bat imparts to the ball
B) Please find the magnitude of the ball's velocity just after it is hit by the bat if the ball is initially at rest
C) Please find the magnitude of the ball's velocity just after it is hit by the bat if the ball is initially moving to the right at 30.5 m/s
What I know so far:
The answer to a is 12.0 kg * m/s
The answer to b is 78.9 m/s
The answer to c is 48.4 m/s
What I would like to learn is how to solve these problems to arrive at the answers I posted above. Please provide the formulas used and a step by step leading up to the solutions.

A) impulse = F*delta t = 4*10^3*(5-2)*10^-3 = 12 kg.m/s
B)
imulse = chnage in momentum
12= m*(v2-v1)
12 = 0.152*(v2-v1)
v2-v1 = 12/0.152 = 78.94 m/s
here v1 = 0
v2 = 78.94 m/s
C)
v2-v1 = 78.94
v2 - (-30.5) = 78.94
==>v2 = 48.4 m/s
