Question
A spherical shell with radius R and surface charge denity s is sandwiched between two infinite sheets with surface charge densities s and -s, as shown in the figure. If the potential far to the right at x = infinity is taken to be zero, what is the potential at the center of the sphere? At x= -infinity?
The hint that I was given was that the potential at -infinity is not zero.
For some reason the figure that I've attached will not post; but, it is simply two sheets touching a sphereical shell on either side. IOI
Explanation / Answer
s*4/3(pie)R^3 = Q
thus potential at centre of sphere is = 2KQ/R = 8/3 * Ks * (pie) * R^2
