Question
SYSTEM ENGINEERING: Describe your personal experience with a system whose capability disappointed you. In your opinion, was this disappointment a design mistake made by the system's designers or the result of a trade-off decision that had to be made during the system's design? For example, a keyboard that is too small to be as usable as you would like on a laptop computer is the result of a trade-off decision as is a not-backlit keyboard on a laptop. However, a keyboard with a poor touch for typing is a design mistake
Explanation / Answer
When a system is being formed as it will be the grouping of many things like hardware, software, connections, procedures, people 's efforts whose aim is to complete a task collectively .
When any of these things will not work out collect vile then the system will fall short to work according to the skilful task and fail to get the required output.
A major characteristic of the Engineering System is that it produced on the basis on "life to death" or " lust to dust" which means when a system is formed it will be an ongoing process of getting the output from the system till the time it has been developed to till the time the system fails to generate the same output.
For example if we go for the purchase of any system and we connect that system to other system which we analyse to get the output from the that system and unfortunately if that system fails to give the required output then the savings on that system made is waste .
For example if we acquire a small alarm clock with new technologies like with digital display , auto setting times in any place or in any whether to with stand if that dials to work with the specifications which were given by the system engineer then it lead to the disappointment and a design error which gets the thought to go for other option better than the current system.
