When the mass is released it travels along a frictionless track that is horizontal until it reaches point (2) and then drops 0.42m to point(3). List the forces that do work as the mass moves from point (1) to point (3), and then circle those forces doing work that are conservative forces. Takey = Oat the level of point (3) and let Ug = 0 there. When the mass reaches point (3) its kinetic energy is 42 J. How far was the spring compressed at (1)?

Conservative- gravity, spring force

b) 0.5kx2+mgh=42

h=0.42m

1900*0.5*x2+6.5*0.42*10=42

x=0.12m = 12cm
