Question

n a two-point testcross of C/c.D/d with homozygous recessive “c/c.d/d”, we observe the following frequencies for the genotypes of the gametic classes.

What are the genotypes of the recombinant classes?

(Your answer should consist of two gamete genotypes of two-characters each, separated by a comma and a space. Uppercase or lowercase does matter. Example of answer formatting only: "XX, xx", or "Xx, xX", etc.)

ANSWER: ___________________________________

What are the genotypes of the parental classes?

(Please use the same formatting as the previous answer.)

ANSWER: ___________________________________

What is the recombination frequency? (Your answer should be a decimal, rounded to the nearest hundredth. Example of answer formatting: "0.12".)

ANSWER: ___________________________________ %

cD CD cd Cd 128 35 25 112

Explanation / Answer

genes do not assort independently . they are linked as shown in results because all the frequencies are different in number. recombinant genotypes - CD , cd and parental genotypes - Cd ,cD if the genes dont assort independently then parental combination should be most frequent.

recombination frequency =number of recombinant / total number of progeny *100

total number of progeny= 300

number of recombinant = 60

recombination frequency = 60/300 *100= 20 % that means 10cM distance between two genes
