(b) The snowball collides with the car and all the snow covers the car. What is the speed of the
snow covered car after the collision?
(c) What fraction of the snowball's kinetic energy remains after the collision? Answer: 0.143
(d) If the snow covered car slides off a 100 m high cliff, how far from the edge of the cliff does
the car land?

(a) conservation of energy,

E = 0

-m g S sin + ½ m v² + ½ I ² = 0

-m g S sin + ½ m v² + ½ (2/5 * mr²) (v/r)² = 0

canceled out of mass m and simplify,

(7/10) v² - g S sin = 0

(7/10) v² - (9.8)(200) sin 30 = 0

v = 37.4166 m/s


(b).

P = 0

Mv - (m + M)v' = 0

(200)(37.4166) - (200 + 1200)v' = 0

v' = 5.34523 m/s
