Question
A person jumps from a first-floor window and lands on her feet. Using the concepts of work and the conservation of energy, estimate the average force that is applied by her legs on landing. Choose your own parameters for the problem and state their values. Justify briefly your chosen parameter values (how you chose them or why they are reasonable); state your assumptions. As the numberical result of your calculations will depend on your parameter values, be sure to show the steps of your reasoning and the symbolic results. Compare the obtained results with the person's weight.
w= 60kg, h=10m, g=9.8 Im not really sure what avg force is i know how to find work done to the ground (mgh).. i dont know how to do force applied by her legs on landing..please explain it for me
Explanation / Answer
Hi, i think these informtion is helpfull to you. You would have to make one more assumption ,the distance he either sinks into the ground at impact or the amount is body lowers by bending knees.Kinetic energy from fall = Force X Distance
KE= F*D
