Question
1. Lab rats on a liquid sucrose diet were noted to consume much less rat chow than similarly lab controlled rats. The sucrose-fed rats were also noted to consume approximately seven more volumes of 10% sucrose solution in a 24hr period than a control rat consumed water. The rats consumed 80% of the total intake between 8 pm and 9 am.
a/ Why did the sucrose-fed rats consume less rat chow than the controlled rats?
b/ Observations showed that rats are nocturnal feeders. Humans, however, are diurnal feeders. What does nocturnal feeding among rodents have on the study of lipoprotein metabolism when samples are collected during the normal feeding period of humans?
c/ What effect might the reduced consumption of rat chow have on the study of VLDL metabolism in both study groups?
Explanation / Answer
There are two types of conditions, Lab rats on liquid sucrose diet and lab controlled rats consumed water, we know obesity is prevalent problem in the united states, obesity has been associated with increased sweetened beverages and high fat diet. The fat model described here test for rats, between food containing fat like sucrose,
Surose given to lab rats and water given to controlled rats, when the observation period is 24 hours, 12 hr light and 12 hr dark cycle at room temp. for few days. and calculate daily food intake,
(a) Because sucrose solution enhanced daily energy about 15% without increasing rat body weightand the secretion of urinary was higher than in rats drinking water. so the sucrose fed rat feel to enhance in their body energy and they dont want to any other intake in the comparision to controlled rats.
(b) We knows nocturnal feeders active at night and diurnal are active during the day time.
In lipoprotein metabolism complex are chylomicron, VLDL,IDL,LDL, etc.when sample collected normal feedind period of humans we see, HDL present a heterogeneous population of lipoproteins in that they exist as functionally particles.the plasma levels in humans responce to consumption of fat. consumption of a high fat diet is only partislly similar to the responce seen in the small intestine. and in the body the chylomicrons are molecule formed to mobilize dietary lipids the LDL takes up by the liverand they are interacted with the LDL receptor.
(c) The effect of sucrose feeding, lymph lipoprotein analysed for lipids and protein content were compared to chow fed control rats. more than are confined to very low density lipoprotein fraction.experimental sucrose induced hyperlipiderma.
apoprotein metabolism of total lipoproteins (LP), very low, low and high density LP(VLDL,LDL,HDL) were evaluated leucine pulse injected into rats fed 2% casein 5% gluten diets. and apo contents were determined,
VLDL war reached between 30 and 60 min in these groups and in the sampling time they were higher in C and GL groups. the percents of radioactivity found in liver and kidneys were higher in both groups. therefore our result gives to evidence of changes in each VLDL apo metabolism with different diets according to its synthesis and origin.
