Question
Many of you may have heard about it on the news, in print, online or on the radio. There is controversy over whether it is really occurring or if the changes are natural processes that have always happened in the past. The greatest contributor to the problem is the release of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the burning of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil and natural gas, used to fuel human society as we know it.
1) Give two pieces of scientific evidence that supports the idea of Climate Change.
2) Also tell of two predicted results if Climate Change is allowed to continue unchecked.
3) Give two ways that the world, or you personally, can use to reduce the release of CO2and other greenhouse gas emissions, now and in the future.
Explanation / Answer
Yes, release of carbon dioxide (Co2) is the major issue leading to global warming as our atmosphere is getting loaded with carbon dioxide much because of human activities.
1) a. past many years, the world’s average temperature has elevated up approximately around 2 degrees Fahrenheit, because of which many years out of that were very warmest years.
b. Aquatic life is affecting badly as the oceans are getting acidified due to more and more release of carbon dioxide (Co2) into atmosphere which is absorbed by oceans, where in the oceans layer is absorbing this gas by more than 1 billion tons per year.
2) a. If the amount in the release of carbon dioxide goes on increasing, and left it ignored or the climate is unchecked, it can lead to decrease in the living population as that leads to storms, melting of glaciers, sea level rise up and many more issues.
b. The major one could be increase in the ozone hole around the planet, which protects it from ultraviolet radiation.
3) We can reduce the problem of release of carbon dioxide like by:
a. By decreasing the rise of deforestation, or planting at least two to three plants per year.
b. Also we can increase the use of renewable energy (eg: solar energy, wind energy etc.,) that works much better in order to decrease the amount of carbon dioxide.
