Question

Scientists recently have proposed a reorganization of the phylogenetic system of classification to include the domain, a new taxonomic category higher (more inclusive) than the Kingdom category, as shown in the following diagram.

Universal Ancestor

Domain Bacteria             Domain Archaea Domain Eukarya

(Eubacteria) (Archaebacteria) (Eukaryotes)

describe how this classification scheme presents different conclusions about the relationships among living organisms than those presented by the previous five-kingdom system of classification

describe three kinds of evidence that were used to develop the taxonomic scheme above, and explain how this evidence was used. The evidence may be structural, physiological, molecular, and/or genetic.

Describe four of the characteristics of the universal ancestor.

Explanation / Answer

In the above scheme of classification, we can conclude that organisms are rigidly borne of the Universal ancestor dividing into three specific domains: Eukarya, Archaea, and Eubacteria. This ancient form of classification gives some vision into real genealogy of all organisms yet loss of some important details that are absolute to the "tree of life" form. In the system of organisms classification into a 3 domain, you forbid some organisms which, are relatives of ancestors, today, who have developed through history. However, in a five-kingdom classification, there are more particular details that transmit much more vision into a survival of an organisms: how it function, structural specifications, physical as well as genetic features and how the evolution organism has occured. In a five-kingdom classification split into five groups: Protists, that aren't analogous because they are not sufficient today, multicellular organisms, fungi, rely on the decomposition of organisms, plants, that obtain food and energy through photosynthesis, and multicellular animals, obtain energy through consuming different organisms which generally prepare their own food. This system of five-kingdom classification permit organisms to be tracked directly to one group or other because of clear lines that split each kingdom, different the disclarity of the domain system. If organisms were still being loaded alone into the domain system, there would be a little diversity among organisms, either they are unicellular or multicellular, or prokaryotes or eukaryotes. Hence, in the kingdom system of classification, there is more particularity in affirming organisms this or that, that ignore confusion and proposes obstruction for organism characteristics.
