Question
In control engineering, the concept of open and closed loop feedbsck are fre- quently encountered 1. Describe what is meant by the terms open-loop and closed-loop control (no more than three sentences for the full answer) [1 mark 2. Consider a first order systern with dynamics described by the differential equation u(t) Where T0 is the called the "time costnt output and u(t) is the control input. of the systen, (t) is the (a) Is a system in this form stable or unstable, or could it be either? [1 mark (b) Assuming the system is stable and a step input u 31(t) is spplied, from initial condition y(00. What is the steady-state value? Provide an estimate for settling time and rise time as a function of T, using the "rules of thumb from the lecture. 2 marks (c) Consider now, the same system now in closed loop feedback with a new gain Kp, a constant disturbance d to y(t) and a noise term n(t) The dynamics can now be described by dy(t) For the remainder of this question assume that T = 2 seconds. i. For the two choices of feedback gain Kp0.1 and Kp 10 estimate the settling time for a step reference input, assuming ii. For the same two choices of gain, what is the steady-stste re sponse to a constant disturbance d-5, assuming 0,r 0? iii. For the same two choices of gain, what is the steady-state re- 0.3, ssuming d = sponse to 8 constant measurement error n 6 marksExplanation / Answer
As per Chegg policy we need to solve only one question at a time, so I am solving only first question. If you want the other questions to be solved, post them separately.
And don't forget to give a thumbs up..:)
An open loop control system is the one in which there are no means to rectify the error between the desired output and the output whuch is actually produced.
In a closed system there is a feedback system provided which provides a feedback signal describing the deviation between the desired output and the actual output so that the input signal may be modified to give desired output.
