Explanation / Answer

Standing waves on a String : as the name suggests, these waves are confined to a region(be it an musical organ pipe or the stretched string).

In a progressive wave, position of nodes and antinodes change everytime, while in standing waves nodes and antinodes are at exact positions and are dependent on length of string.

Playing guitar involves plucking strings, as length of strings are same, standing waves are produced.

Interference,Beats: Standing waves are produced when waves of same frequency, moving in opposite direcrion, superimpose.

Beats are formed when these two waves are of different frequencies but the difference in frequency remains constant over some period of time.

Doppler Effect: explains that the frequency of sound or light is subject to relative motion between source and observer/listener. There is a shift in frequency of sound or light when either one is moving in either direction.

Frequency of horn blown by a train engine increases when it approached the platform.(observer is standing (at rest) on platform)

If listener is also moving towards the approaching engine, frequency will be further increased.
