Question

Several answers may be correct

At age 10 you carved your name into the trunk of a 20 ft oak tree at about chest-height (for your 10-yr-old self). Thirty years later you are back in your hometown and visit the park where this tree was growing. Your tree is still there! Which of the following should be true? O The tree ceased to grow at the point where you carved. The tree is taller O The trunk where you carved your name is wider. O The place where you carved is no longer at chest height- it is up higher on the trunk than it was before. O Looking at the tree, you can see how tall you were when you were ten years old.

Explanation / Answer

The correct options are:-

(2) the tree will be taller. Due to apical growth of the tree

(3) the trunk where you carved your name is wider. Die to secondary growth the width of the tree increases.

(5) looking at the tree, you can see how tall you were when you were ten years old . The height at which the name was carved will remain same, and the tree grows tip to that. So you can see what was your heigh then.

Hopefully it helps.
