Question

OK, so I have worked out the problem but I don't get the correct answer - please show me where I went wrong?

Q) Calculate the gravitational force between Planet A (Mass of 1.90 x 10^27kg) and planet B (Mass of 1.48 x 10^23kg). The orbital radius of Planet A is 107 million km.

So, this is what I did..

G x m1 x m2
F= ____________
r^2

I changed 107 million km to meters, which made r 1.07x10^11m

(6.67x10^-11)(1.90x10^27)(1.48x10^23)
F= __________________________________
((1.07x10^11)^2)

(1.875604 x 10^40)
F= ___________________
(1.1449 x 10^22)

F = 1.64 x 10^18

However the correct answer is 1.64 x 10^22.
Where did I go wrong?

Explanation / Answer

your Ans is correct, i tried once

the force F = Gm1m2/(r^2)

                 = 6.67x10^-11*1.90 x 10^27kg*1.48 x 10^23kg/(107*10^9 m)^2

                = 1.638*10^18 N

i hope the input values are wrong..
