Question
The four corners of a square each have a charge located on them. The left two corners each have -4 microCoulomb charges and the right two corners each have +5 micro Coulomb charges, and each side of the square is of length 2m. a) Determine the magnitude and direction of the electric field at the center of the square. b) If a -7nC charge were placed at the center of the square, what would be the magnitude and direction of the electric force on that charge? c) Sketch the electric field lines of the square.Notes: A diagram and stepwise explanation would be really helpful, as our teacher has not explained this concepts to us with a diagram and I am running into problems. I have tried the problem by myself, using symmetry, and drawn a diagram of the direction of the field lines, but am not sure if I have got the correct answers. If you could also clarify application of the ASTC (all/sin/tan/cos) method for determining direction of theta I would appreciate it.
