Question
My Notes . Aak our Taac A sound source is moving at 72 m/s toward a stationary listener the source is at rest. Assume that the source emits sound at a frequency of 210 Hz. Assume also that the that is standing in still airi. in the reference frame of the source, the listener and the air are moving toward the source at 72 mýs and sound traveis through still air at 336 ms. (a) At what speed, reletive to the source, is the sound traveling in the region between the source and the listener? m/s (b) Find the wavelength of the sound in the region between the source and the listener (c) Find the frequency heard by the listener HzExplanation / Answer
(a) relative spped of sound = 336 - 72 = 264m/s
(b) wavelength = (v-vs)/frequency = 264 / 210 = 1.25 m
(c) frequency = (v/(v-vs))*fs = 336/264*210 = 267 Hz
