2 0 -points Oscarphys2016 16.2 WA 007. Tutorial My Notes O Ask Yo You have a two-wheel trailer that you pull behind your ATV. Two children with a combined mass of 76.2 kg hop on board for a ride through the woods and the springs (one for each wheel) each compress by 5.57 cm. When you pull the trailer over a tree root in the trail it oscillates with a period of 1.34s. Determine the following (a) force constant of the springs N/m (b) mass of the trailer (c) frequency of the oscillation (d) time it takes for the trailer to bounce up and down 10 times

Explanation / Answer

A) F = kx

k = 0.5 mg/x = (0.5*(76.2)*9.8)/0.0557 = 6703.41 N/m

B) T = 2pi*sqrt(M/k)

Therefore

1.34 = 2pi*sqrt(M/6703.41)

M = 304.89 Kg

Therefore, Mass of Trailer = 304.89 - 76.2 = 228.69 Kg

C) Frequency = 1/time = 1/1.34 = 0.75 Hz

D) Time = 10*time period = 1.34*10 = 13.4 sec
